Going keto and low-carb can be tough if you have a sweet tooth. Just think: Can you imagine going without a piece of chocolate for weeks and weeks, even months? Can you never again have a piece of cake when your children celebrate? Or never ever bake pancakes again? If you are anything like me, this sounds like a horror movie screenplay that you don’t want to act in, no matter how popular the movie. Luckily we have keto desserts.

Keto desserts are desserts that usually consist of ingredients like eggs, nut flours, full-fat dairy, and a low-carb sweetener, giving them a moderate to high fat, moderate to low protein and low carb nutritional profile. This way you can enjoy an occasional treat even if you follow a strict low-carb or keto lifestyle.

If you are dairy intolerant, there are many keto desserts, totally avoiding dairy. If you are allergic to nuts or dislike them, you can often use coconut flour as an alternative.

Some keto desserts are even vegan, so completely egg and dairy-free.

Not to mention sugar-free, of course. Instead of sugar, keto desserts mostly use erythritol which is low-carb and low GI. Stevia extract is also a nice sweetener, and lately, more and more people use monk fruit sweetener.
