Egg Fast Day 4

Posted: May 5, 2016 · Updated: Sep 3, 2025 by Tisa · Leave a Comment

Woke up hungry on Egg Fast Day 4, which has been a part of my 5-Day Egg Fast Experiment. But determined I was going to go to the gym in a fasted state (as usually), no matter what. Was going to work on a group of muscles (legs, specifically) that I didn't work on the day before.

Oh, the scale showed minus one more pound. That's 2 pounds on Egg Fast, altogether!

A detailed keto egg fast diary for people who want something to follow! Welcome to Day 4 of a 5 Day Egg Fast! #keto #eggfast

Had my usual green tea again, ½ tsp. guarana powder, ½ tablespoon coconut oil. This made me feel not hungry and kept me running through the hour of heavy lifting. And I did lift a lot, didn't feel like lacking energy or anything.

An hour out of the gym, the Hunger came back with all its force. And, as I was working at home during this Egg Fast week, I decided, I'd go all in. Which in this case just meant I decided to eat as many times and as much as I'd wish on the Day 4. Wanted to see how I'd feel doing this. That didn't mean I decided on bingeing and overeating. But maintenance level or a little bit over should be nothing to worry about. But I did have to watch my proper fat intake, as I under-consumed the fat on Day 2, and stayed a bit low on Day 3.

By Day 4 I still wasn't sick of eating eggs. Having so many egg fast recipes at hand does help a lot. But I did miss greens. And some meat.

On this day, I ended up eating a lot of different dishes in small amounts. I improvised quite a lot to stay at the appropriate egg/fat/cheese ratio but had fun with it.

Breakfast

11:00 am. I took my leftover Fettuccini Alfredo pasta, which I had kept in an airtight container in the fridge since Day 1. I fried it a bit on 1 tablespoon of butter and topped it with 2 tablespoon of leftover Yum Yum sauce that I also kept in the fridge since Monday. Yes, the combination was good and full of fat!

But I was still hungry. :-/

Snack

12:00 pm. I know, only one hour after breakfast. On Day 2, I made a batch of oopsie rolls (thanks, tasteaholics.com for the basic recipe); the best life-saving make-ahead keto snacks! So, I took one oopsie roll (which is basically ½ egg and ½ ounce cream cheese) and topped it with 1-ounce mascarpone cheese, mixed with cinnamon and a hint of stevia. Yum.

Lunch

This time, I went for another meal that serves as great make-ahead food that you can store in the fridge for a week! LowCarbYum has this Egg Fast Cheese Quiche recipe that I followed but halved the amounts.

Cheese Quiche Egg Fast Day 4

2:00 pm. The monstrous Hunger had calmed down by now, so I only had ⅙ of the Cheese Quiche and stored the rest in the fridge. Yes, this stuff is nice! Added a few drops of hot sauce over it, and it was a perfect snack.

By this time I'd had 3.5 eggs, 4.5 tablespoon fat, and 3 ounces cheese.

Snack

4:00 pm. The return of Hunger. When browsing LowCarbYum's website, I came across this Egg Fast Cloud Cake recipe that seemed simple and delicious. Decided to use what I already had prepared, I took two oopsie rolls from the fridge instead of making the cake. Cut them in half in order to make a "4-floor" cake. Trying to fit my egg/fat/cheese ratio into the day, I made the filling out of 1 tablespoon softened butter and ½ ounce cream cheese. Instead of coffee, I put in matcha green tea powder, which I love dearly. The snack was absolutely worth going for again!

Dinner

6:00 pm. Following my own decision to eat more on this day and get the right intake of fat, I had 1 hard-boiled egg and another flatly baked oopsie. Topped the latter with ½ ounce cream cheese and ½ coconut oil, whisked together with a hint of stevia and cinnamon.

When browsing through egg fast recipes on the Internet, I found this Cinnamon French Toast Puff that I absolutely needed to try out. I know, so many desserts in one day, breaking my own "rule" of not having too much of sweeteners. But here I go, making the Day 4 an experiment inside the Egg Fast experiment. This recipe is quick to follow, and the outcome is to drool over. I only replaced maple flavor with vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon with vanilla seeds. Yum! I'm a total sucker for vanilla.

Egg Fast Day 4 Outcome

On Day 4 I consumed:

  • 7 eggs
  • 7 tablespoon fat
  • 6 ounces cheese

Finally got the fats right! I thought this would be easier. Next time, I'll plan ahead more. And I'd be more systematic and conservative on Day 5, and not try out so many new recipe possibilities. That's the plan, anyway. I still have the Cheese Quiche, 4 oopsie rolls, and 3 hard-boiled eggs to use up tomorrow. Might share some with my hubby or keep it for Saturday, when we need to travel.

Felt satiety in the evening, after dinner. But, going to bed at 11:00 pm, my stomach started rumbling and I felt as if I hadn't eaten all those meals! And I had gone over my average intake in Calories. Weird. I think my body's metabolism is kind of weird. I need to eat too much all the time. Might be getting too little protein in on the Egg Fast, though. Considering how much I work out, and how frequently I get hungry, that is.

Another dark side of my Egg Fast were cramps in one of my calf muscles the night before. I woke up in pain and could hardly relieve it. That probably meant I must have consumed too little minerals, especially magnesium, or have splashed too much out of my system. I might have added too little salt to food, maybe. I don't know, but taking my mineral supplements, I didn't expect this to happen.

Only one day to go. Planning the Day 5 more systematically ... and let's see what happens.
